Admin: Label Log

Page Description

Use the Label Log administration page to view, store, and log labels that are printed to both network and local workstation label printers. Note that the labels will not be logged by default. The Label Log will record label commands that are sent to the label printers, the time the label was printed, the requisition, patient, or client services client that the label was printed for, the label format used to generate the label, the label printing rule that was triggered, the user or host that printed the label, the page from within the application where the label was printed, the destination of the label, and the language used to generate the label command. To enable the label logging feature, go to the Admin: System Defaults topic and select settings from the Label Log Settings section, and include the subsettings EPL2, Labeler, ZPL II, and Purge label log records older than ___ days. Logging can be enabled for all three languages, or individually as needed.

The Label Log administration page requires that the user have the role/right "View Label Log (Administration>Monitor)" enabled to access the page.

Accessing the Label Log Filter

  1. Click the Label Log administration page submenu link to view the label log filter.
  2. When viewing the filter, you may select a start/end date, language, order search, and/or label content filters that Copia uses to create the list of labels to display in the log. See "Setting the Label Log Filter" below.

Setting the Label Log Filter

  1. Select the Start and End time settings for the filter. Copia only searches for labels after the start date and time and before the end date and time. Click the Clear button to reset the fields to their default values. If you enter an invalid date or time, Copia resets the dates to the default values. The default start date is the beginning of the current day, and default end date is the current time of the current day. Click the Now button to insert the current date/time into the fields.
  2. Select an option from the Language drop-down list to limit the list based on the language used to print the label(s). Select "All" to include all label languages.
  3. Enter text into the Order Search field to search for an order. This is a search-as-you-type field. This field allows the user to filter by the order on the label. The table displays the order ID and the patient name. Click the magnifying glass icon to search for orders manually, or click the X button to remove text from the field. The table will automatically update depending on the text that has been entered into the field. Type at least five characters to search.
  4. Enter one or more characters in to the Label Content field to filter by the content included on the label. Note that searching for label content text is slower. See "Reviewing the Label Log" below.
  5. Remember that each criterion used further limits the number of possible matching labels. If you use multiple criteria, then Copia will only display those labels that match all of the parameters you have specified.
  6. Once you have the desired settings for the filter, Copia will refresh automatically to show labels based on your filter configuration. Note that Copia selects "All" by default for all fields (if you did not specify a value) and defaults to displaying all records for the current day up to the current time. Copia updates the list in the Label Log section of the page. See "Reviewing the Label Log" below.

Reviewing the Label Log

  1. Once you have set the filter criteria and the log has refreshed, Copia updates the list in the bottom section of the page. See "Setting the Label Log Filter" above.
  2. If the list is longer than one page, use the Page links, located below the list of events, to navigate through the list. If there are more page links than can fit on the page at once, Copia displays the Page field. Enter a number in this field and press the Enter key on the keyboard to immediately open the selected page.
  3. To modify the list of changes, adjust the filter criteria and the page will refresh automatically. See "Setting the Label Log Filter" above.
  4. The Label Log results table will display Label Log details, the date/time, who requested the label, the origin, the destination, and the language. The Label Log results table includes a details link for each label log record that is displayed. When this link is clicked, the Details pop-up will be displayed. The label commands that were sent to the printer will be displayed in the Label Command text area. The label command can be downloaded by clicking the Download button on the Details pop-up. The Details pop-up also displays additional information that is not displayed on the main Label Log administration page, such as the label printing rule and label formats that were used to generate the label.
  5. Sort the displayed labels by clicking the heading for the available columns. The up and down arrows indicate whether the current sort order is descending (\/) or ascending (/\).
