Outbound Message Details

Page Description

Use this page to view or modify the HL7 message of non-fax outbound files. If you are viewing the details for a faxed or emailed message, Copia displays the message in PDF format, and you will not be able to edit the message, but you may edit the recipient's address.

Note that if you make changes, you are permanently modifying the original message. Copia does not maintain backup copies of messages.

In cases where users are using system default level delivery rules that call for fax numbers or email addresses, but the users do not have a fax number or email address, Copia retains the messages in this queue and will not attempt to send the message until someone adds a fax number or email address using this page.

Modifying Outbound Messages

  1. When the Outbound Message Detail page appears, Copia displays the message details.
  2. Place the cursor in the message to display in the Cursor Position field the part of the message the cursor is in (e.g., IN2-5.1 or PV1-7.2). There are a few special cases: if the cursor is at the beginning of the message, the position will be “Start of Message”; if the cursor is at the end of the message, the position will be “End of Message”; if the cursor is in the first field of the MSH segment, the position will display “Message Delimiters”; if the cursor is at the end of a segment or the beginning of the next segment, the position will display “End of <segment type> Start of <segment type>” (e.g., End of GT1 Start of IN1).
  3. To view more message detail, return to the Outbound Queue page. See the Admin: Outbound Queue topic.
  4. View the message status in the Errors field.
  5. You may view the contents of the email or fax in PDF form. You may not modify the message.
  6. To edit HL7 messages, highlight or delete text already displayed in the Recipient Details field, then modify as needed. Note that you are permanently modifying the original message. Copia does not maintain backup copies of messages. If you are viewing the details for a faxed message, Copia displays the message in PDF format, and you will not be able to edit the message.
  7. Click Cancel to return to the Outbound Queue page without saving any changes.
  8. Click Save to record changes and return to the Outbound Queue page. This button is disabled if you are viewing an email message.
