Page Description

Use the LOINC Codes administration page to allow the user to define order choice level LOINC codes and descriptions in Copia. These will not be assigned to an order choice. Rather, they will be parsed from inbound messages (if present) and stored on the order choice record for that order. When outbound messages are sent, if a LOINC code is present on that order choice record it will be sent out in the HL7 field OBR-4. These codes will have their own setup page in addition to an option to import codes in mass. The setup page can only be viewed with either the "View Order Choice LOINC Codes (Administration > Order Choice Setup)" or the "Edit Order Choice LOINC Codes (Administration > Order Choice Setup)" right set.

Accessing this Page

• Click the Administration menu button, click the Order Choice Setup button, and then click the LOINC Codes submenu link. You must have the necessary security permissions to access the Administration menu button.

When you click the Administration menu button, Copia opens the main Administration menu, which contains administrative menu buttons, including the Order Choice Setup menu. To return to the main menu for Copia, click the Lab Tasks menu button.

1. The LOINC Code list page contains a list of up to ten LOINC codes. If the list is longer than one page, use the Page links, located below the list of LOINC codes to navigate through the list.
2. If you cannot find the desired LOINC code, enter one or more numerals of the LOINC code into the Search field. This is a search-as-you-type field. Click the Refresh button to return to the full list of LOINC codes.
3. If you cannot find the desired LOINC code, click the Add button to add a LOINC code. See "Adding LOINC Codes" below.
4. Click the code link of the LOINC code on the LOINC Codes list page to edit the LOINC code information in the LOINC Code Details page.

Adding LOINC Codes

1. Use the LOINC Code Details page to create LOINC codes for use in Copia. This will act as your standard setup page.
2. Enter the numerals of the LOINC code into the LOINC Code field. This field is required.
3. Enter a brief description of the LOINC code into the Description field. This description will appear next to the LOINC code on the LOINC Code list page.
4. Click < Back to List to return to the LOINC Code list page without saving any changes.
5. Click the Save button to record changes and return to the LOINC Code list page.
