Use the Specimen Source Categories page to view, add, or edit a specimen source category list that is used to define a specimen category that can be grouped on the order.

Viewing the Specimen Source Category List
  1. The Specimen Source Category list page contains a list of up to ten specimen source categories. If the list is longer than one page, use the Page links, located below the list of specimen source categories, to navigate through the list.
  2. To modify the number of categories on the page, adjust the value of the Show __ entries field. Copia defaults to ten per page, and displays the total number of items based on your search.
  3. To view active specimen source categories only, select the Show active only checkbox at the top of the Specimen Source Category list page. You set the active/inactive status in the Specimen Source Category Details section of the Specimen Source Category details page. See "Adding Specimen Source Categories" below.
  4. If you cannot find the desired specimen source category, click the Add button to add a specimen source category. See "Adding Specimen Source Categories" below.
  5. Click the name of the specimen source category on the Specimen Source Category list page to edit the specimen category information in the Specimen Source Category details page. See "Editing Specimen Source Categories" below.

Accessing Specimen Source Category Details

  1. Use the Specimen Source Category list page to access the Specimen Source Category details page, where you may add or edit a specimen source category.
  2. To create a new specimen source category, click the Add button in the Specimen Source Category list page. This opens a blank record in the Specimen Source Category details page to create a new specimen source category. See "Adding Specimen Source Categories" below.
  3. To edit an existing specimen source category, click the name of the specimen source category in the Specimen Source Category list page. This opens the selected specimen source category in the Specimen Source Category details page. See "Editing Specimen Source Categories" below.

Adding Specimen Source Categories

  1. Use the Specimen Source Category details page to create or modify specimen source categories.
  2. Enter the full name of the specimen source category in the Name field. This field is required.
  3. Select the Active checkbox to enable users to select the specimen source category while creating a category. Clear this checkbox to restrict users from selecting the specimen source category. If the specimen source category is inactive, Copia clears it from the Specimen Source Categories list page when you select the Show active only checkbox. See "Viewing the Specimen Source Category List" above.
  4. Select the Ordering Restricted checkbox to enable the Assign Locations button and the Assign Order Choices button.
  5. Enter text into the Additive search field located in the HL7 2.5.1 Settings section to search for an additive. This is a search-as-you-type field. Click the magnifying glass icon to manually search for an additive, or click the X button to remove the additive from the field.
  6. Enter a value into the Default Amount Collected field to specify a default value for the amount that is to be collected. The field defaults to "0.0."
  7. Enter text into the Units field to specify the amount of units to be displayed, e.g., ounce, pint, etc.
  8. Enter text into the UCUM Units field to specify the amount of UCUM units to be displayed, e.g., ounce, pint, etc. This is a search-as-you-type field. Click the magnifying glass icon to manually search for UCUM units, or click the X button to remove the UCUM unit from the field.
  9. Click < Back to List to return to the Specimen Source Categories list page without saving any changes.
  10. Click Save to record changes and return to the Specimen Source Categories list page.

Editing Specimen Source Categories

  1. Use the Specimen Source Category details page to modify the name or active status of the specimen source category.
  2. To edit, highlight, or delete text already displayed in the Name field, then modify as desired.
  3. Select the Active checkbox to enable users to select the specimen source category while creating a category. Clear this checkbox to restrict users from selecting the specimen source category. If the specimen source category is inactive, Copia clears it from the Specimen Source Category list page when you select the Show active only checkbox. See "Viewing the Specimen Source Category List" above.
  4. Select the Ordering Restricted checkbox to enable the Assign Locations button and the Assign Order Choices button.
  5. Enter text into the Additive search field located in the HL7 2.5.1 Settings section to edit the additive. This is a search-as-you-type field. Click the magnifying glass icon to manually search for an additive, or click the X button to remove the additive from the field.

  9. Click < Back to List to return to the Specimen Source Category list page without saving any changes.
  10. Click Save to record changes and return to the Specimen Source Category list page.
