Page Description

Use the Change Ordering Location page to make a change so the patient and ordering location you have selected on the Order Patient Samples page are from the same practice. You may select a linked patient, if one is available; search for and select a different patient; or create a record for the patient in the selected location's practice. If you do not wish to perform one of these actions, you may return to the Order Patient Samples page and retain the previous ordering location. When displaying patients, Copia only includes patients whom you can view, and it limits the list by the practice the new location belongs to.

Accessing this Page

• Modify the Ordering Location field on the Order Patient Samples page when the ordering location you select is associated with a different practice than the selected patient.

1. If the selected patient does not belong to the same practice as the selected ordering location, but the patient is linked to a patient who does belong to the practice, then the Select a linked patient section appears. If the patient is not linked to another patient, then this section does not appear.
2. Each linked patient is listed with the Name, Patient ID, SSN, DOB, Sex, Address, PCP, and Practice.
3. Click the link in the Name column to select the linked patient, and to return to the Order Patient Samples page with the linked patient as the patient for the order.
4. Click the Back to Order Patient Samples button to return to the Order Patient Samples page and retain the previous ordering location.
5. If there are no linked patients, or if you do not wish to select a linked patient, you may search for and select a different patient or create a record for the patient in the other practice. See "Searching for a Patient" or "Creating New Patient Records for the Practice" below.

1. Copia displays any patient records with the same last name and first initial when this page appears.
2. Each potentially matching patient is listed with the Name, Patient ID, SSN, DOB, Sex, Address, PCP, and Practice.
3. If you do not see the desired patient, type one or more characters in the Patient field, and then click the Search button to refresh the list of patients with those who match your new search.
4. Click the link in the Name column to select the patient, and to return to the Order Patient Samples page with the newly selected patient as the patient for the order.
5. Click the Back to Order Patient Samples button to return to the Order Patient Samples page and retain the previous ordering location.
6. If there are no matching patients, or if you do not wish to select a different patient, you may select a linked patient (if available) or create a record for the patient in the other practice. See "Selecting a Linked Patient" above or "Creating New Patient Records for the Practice" below.

1. Click the Create new patient button to create a new patient record that belongs to the new practice with all of the data from the original patient record, and to return to the Order Patient Samples page with the newly created patient as the patient for the order. Copia links the new patient to the old patient, and it marks the old patient as non-orderable (if the system is set that way).
2. Click the Back to Order Patient Samples button to return to the Order Patient Samples page and retain the previous ordering location.
3. If there are no matching patients, or if you do not wish to create a new patient record, you may select a linked patient (if available) or you may search for and select a different patient. See "Selecting a Linked Patient" above or "Searching for a Patient" above.
