Page Description

Use the Encounter Info page to define admission types, financial classes, and patient types for use when defining patient encounters in the Encounter page. Click on the tab that corresponds to the task you wish to perform.

Accessing Encounter Info Tabs

  1. Click the Admission Type tab to add or edit an admission type.
  2. Click the Financial Class tab to add or edit a financial class.
  3. Click the Patient Type tab to add or edit a patient type.

Viewing the Admission Type List
  1. Click the Admission Type tab, if it is not already open. See "Accessing Encounter Info Tabs" above.
  2. The Admission Type tab contains a list of up to ten admission types. If the list is longer than one page, use the Page links, located below the list of admission types, to navigate through the list.
  3. To view active admission types only, select the Show active only checkbox at the top of the Admission Type tab. You set the inactive/active status in the Admission Type Details tab view. See "Adding or Editing Admission Type Details" below.
  4. If you cannot find the desired admission type, click the Add button to add an admission type. See "Adding or Editing Admission Type Details" below.
  5. Click the admission type on the Admission Type List to view or edit admission type information on the Admission Type details tab view. See "Adding or Editing Admission Type Details" below.

Adding or Editing Admission Type Details

  1. Use the Admission Type Details tab view of the Encounter Information page to add or edit an admission type.
  2. Enter the new admission type in the Name field. This field is required.
  3. To edit the admission type, highlight or delete text already displayed in the field, then modify as desired.
  4. Select the Active checkbox to enable users to use the admission type for patient encounters. Clear this checkbox to restrict users from using the admission type. If the admission type is inactive, Copia clears it from the Admission Type List when you select the Show active only checkbox. See "Viewing the Admission Type List" above.
  5. Enter the host code for the admission type in the HL7 Code field. Copia uses this value to keep values in Copia and other hosts in synch. This field is required.
  6. Click < Back to List to return to the Admission Type list view without saving any changes.
  7. Click Save to record changes and return to the Admission Type list view.

Viewing the Financial Class List
  1. Click the Financial Class tab, if it is not already open. See "Accessing Encounter Info Tabs" above.
  2. The Financial Class tab contains a list of up to ten financial classes. If the list is longer than one page, use the Page links, located below the list of financial classes, to navigate through the list.
  3. To view active financial classes only, select the Show active only checkbox at the top of the Financial Class tab. You set the inactive/active status in the Financial Class Details tab view. See "Adding or Editing Financial Class Details" below.
  4. If you cannot find the desired financial class, click the Add button to add a financial class. See "Adding or Editing Financial Class Details" below.
  5. Click the financial class on the Financial Class List to view or edit financial class information on the Financial Class Details tab view. See "Adding or Editing Financial Class Details" below.

Adding or Editing Financial Class Details

  1. Use the Financial Class Details tab view of the Encounter Information page to add or edit a financial class.
  2. Enter the new financial class in the Name field. This field is required.
  3. To edit the financial class, highlight or delete text already displayed in the field, then modify as desired.
