Patient Insurance Sets

Page Description

Use the Patient Insurance Sets page to view all insurance set information associated with the patient and any linked patients, to copy insurance information from linked patient records, and to change the currently selected insurance set. Note that if an insurance company or plan within a patient insurance set is marked as inactive in the Insurance administration page, you will not be able to assign the insurance set to a new order.

Viewing and Updating the Current Insurance Set

  1. For each insurance set for the primary and linked patients, Copia lists the primary, secondary, and tertiary insurances, as well as guarantor, and the date the set was created.
  2. In the Select Insurance column, Copia displays the text "Currently Selected" to indicate that this insurance set is currently in use for this patient. Copia alerts you to inactivated insurance companies or plans in the primary, secondary, or tertiary columns.
  3. The page contains a list of up to ten insurance sets for the primary patient and ten insurance sets for each linked patient. If the list is longer than one page, use the Page links, located below the list of insurance sets, to navigate through the list. If there are more page links than can fit on the page at once, Copia displays the Page field. Enter a number in this field and press the Enter key on the keyboard to immediately open the selected page.
  4. Click the View button to review an insurance set in the Insurance page. See the Insurance topic.
  5. IMPORTANT: This will not change the selected insurance set. To do so, you must return to the Patient Insurance Sets page, and click the Select button (see below).

  6. To copy insurance from a linked patient to the currently selected patient, click the Copy button next to the insurance set you want to copy. Copia displays in the Insurance page the insurance set you copied so you may view or edit the information. After you are done with your review, Copia adds the insurance set to the selected patient, but it does not set it as the default insurance. Note that you cannot copy insurance that is either inactive or practice-specific.
  7. To change the insurance currently selected, click the Select button. Copia returns to the Insurance page and displays the newly selected insurance set on the Insurance Summary tab. Note that if an insurance company or plan within a patient insurance set is marked as inactive in the Insurance administration page, you will not be able to assign the insurance set to a new order.
  8. To delete an insurance set from the patient's record, click the X button in the Delete column for the insurance you want to delete.
  9. Click the Cancel button to return to the Insurance page without changing the currently selected insurance set.
