Admin: RAPS

Page Description

Use the RAPS page to create printer services that link printers with the practices that may print to them, regardless of their location. To establish a remote printer service, you must create a name and password (used by the locations running the remote printing client software), schedule and/or share printing for the printers that are currently installed on the workstation where the client application is installed, and select the practices that may use the installed printers.

Once you add practices, the locations that belong to one of the practices may use this remote automated printing service. The installed printers that are marked "Shared" for this remote automated printing service will be available for selection when you define in the Locations administration page the remote printing delivery method for a location that belongs to one of the associated practices.

The remote printing feature is able to print without using Adobe Acrobat. In order to use this feature, however, you must first install the conversion package and enable the feature in the acrobatreader.ini file. Contact Orchard Software Technical Support for assistance in enabling this feature.

Viewing the Remote Automated Printing Services List
  1. The RAPS page contains a list of up to ten remote printer services. If the list is longer than one page, use the Page links, located below the list of services, to navigate through the list. If there are more page links than can fit on the page at once, Copia displays the Page field. Enter a number in this field and press the Enter key on the keyboard to immediately open the selected page. Note that Copia only displays services that have an assigned practice that you also have access to.
  2. To narrow the list of displayed printing services, or to find a specific service, enter one or more characters in the Search field, and then click the Search button. Click the List option to return to the entire list of remote automated printing services.
  3. To view only active remote printer services, select the Show active only checkbox at the top of theRAPS page. You set the inactive/active status in the Remote Automated Printing Service Details section of the RAPS details page. See "Adding or Editing Remote Automated Printing Service Details" below.
  4. If you cannot find the desired remote printer service, click the Add button to add a remote printer service. See "Adding or Editing Remote Automated Printing Service Details" below.
  5. Click the remote printer service on the RAPS list page to view or edit remote printer service information, schedule or share installed printers, and associate practices to the remote automated printing service on the RAPS details page. Scheduling and Sharing Installed Printers

  1. Use the Installed Printers section of the RAPS details page to schedule or share the printer for the selected remote automated printing service.
  2. The page lists the printers that are installed on the workstation where the client application is installed. If a printer is removed from the workstation running the client application, the printer will no longer appear in the list, even if it was shared at the time it was removed. If you do not see the desired printer, verify that the printer is installed correctly on the workstation where the client application is installed.
  3. Each printer is listed with its network path, as well as its schedule and share statuses.
  4. Select the Shared checkbox for a printer to indicate that Copia can print reports to it. This setting is not selected by default, so you must select the checkbox in order to use the printer as part of the current remote automated printing service. If the printer is not shared, it cannot be used for remote printing.
  5. If there is a schedule for the printer, Copia displays "yes" in the Scheduled column. Note that, by default, Copia creates a schedule of 24 hours a day, seven days a week for each printer.
  6. Click the Printer link to schedule when the printer will print reports using the Printing Schedule page. See the Admin: Printing Schedule topic.
  7. Click < Back to List to return to the RAPS list page without saving any changes.
  8. If your modifications are complete, click Save to record all changes. Otherwise, complete the remaining sections, and then click Save.
